Wise Employment - industry leaders again
Press Release

12/09/2007

Wise Employment yesterday became the first Recruitment Agency in Swindon to be awarded with a cutting-edge national Accreditation which demonstrates their commitment to achieving equality and diversity at work.

The recruitment consultancy have proven yet again that they are spearheading the industry by gaining the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) Diversity Assured Recruitment award, which they were presented with on Tuesday. Wise Employment have had stringent Equal Opportunity policies for many years, and recognize the long term business benefits of being officially recognized for diversity.

It is estimated that by 2010, only 20 per cent of the labour market will be white, non-disabled men, under 45. It is therefore imperative that employers are aware that we face ever -increasing skills shortages if we do not harness talent from every possible source. In order to achieve this, companies must look at candidate attraction and retention in far more depth than they have done historically.

Martin Hills, Branch Manager of Wise Employment in Swindon explains further: “To continue to succeed in recruiting in the 21st century maintaining a focus on our approach to diversity is a necessity and not a choice. Ensuring that we maintain an effective approach towards diversity in recruitment is not about being a ‘do gooder’ – it’s really about making sure we make the right decisions for our long term business future.”

Wise Employment have aligned themselves with the REC and the Job Centre, who are backing this accreditation, which is designed to identify those employers that take steps to achieve performance by building a workforce with a diverse mixture of background, cultures, approaches and thinking.

In order to gain this coveted accreditation Wise Employment were stringently audited on many of their policies such as advertising, equality processes, discrimination and harassment policies, interviewing processes, skills assessing systems, referencing, appraisals and much more. a senior advisor for Committed to Equality (C2E), was responsible for assessing the company’s suitability for the award. He said: “This certification is important in our evolving employment market, and I was delighted to see that a company such as Wise Employment takes it’s approach towards diversity issues and opportunities so seriously. As time progresses I believe that we will see many companies following Wise’s example and striving to be recognized for their approach to diversity in recruitment.”

Wise Employment – who are based in Swindon - are one of the UK’s foremost independent recruitment agencies with 16 branches across the South and West of England. Earlier this year one of the company’s temporary staff, Charlotte Rowlands, was crowned as the National Winner of the Diversity Plus award during the REC’s National Temporary Workers Week. This latest success is a further demonstration that the company has been taking this topic very seriously, and as a result are actually the first to gain this Diversity accreditation not only in Swindon, but also in the Taunton and Bristol areas!

Martin Hills of Wise Employment concludes: “We are really excited that we are leading the field by gaining this important certificate – it is a clear demonstration of our ongoing commitment to achieving an unparalleled approach in ensuring we treat all of our current and potential employees with respect, and recognise the valuable abilities and skills which they can deliver.”
